Penn Capital Management Co Inc. is seeking a Research Analyst covering the Materials (metals & mining, chemicals, and paper & packaging) and Industrials (transportation) sectors performing fundamental equity and credit analysis. Responsible for conducting investment and financial analysis including economic, quantitative, strategic, equity, credit, and market specific analyses on micro cap, small cap, and mid cap US equities and on US high yield/bank loan issuers. Construct detailed financial models (including three statement models) and analyze business performance and prospects, relative value, credit characteristics of individual issues, deal structure, underlying collateral, and perform risk analysis, competitive landscape analysis, and probability and statistical analysis. Special Requirements: Master’s degree in Business Administration or Related Discipline. Progress towards Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designation demonstrated by passage of CFA exam at Level 2 or higher. Experience must include at least two years of the following: Analyzing and valuing companies in the Materials (metals & mining, chemicals, and paper & packaging) and Industrials (transportation) sectors. Performing equity and fixed income analysis. Proficiency in Bloomberg, Factset, and Excel and experience with statistical package (R, SAS, SPSS, or E-views, etc).
